AJ Styles is the Superstar of the Year

AJ Styles has had a phenomenal year in WWE, personally, I did not predict that AJ Styles would come in and trailblaze WWE the way he did. Starting from his debut at the Royal Rumble, he came in with so much buzz and excitement from the fans. Then, he teamed with Chris Jericho and people got worried a little bit. There was a concern that Styles would just be a midcarder in a tag team with Jericho. Then, at Wrestlemania 32, he lost to Jericho and fans who watched that were really concerned that WWE would bury Styles. However, a leaf was turned when the next night, he won a fatal four way to be the number one contender for the WWE championship. Now, why would he lose at the biggest show of the year only to then contend for the championship, I have no idea. Whatever the case is, he had something to prove to the WWE fans that he could hang with the top dog, which was Roman Reigns, the champion at the time. At Payback and Extreme Rules, AJ styles carried Reigns to the best match of his career at that point. Even though Styles lost twice to Roman Reigns, he gained alot of respect from fans who were not aware of his previous work in Tna and Ring Of Honor.The matches was so great that it was nominated as  match of the year.  His next big feud was with the face of the company, John Cena. In order to go up against Cena, he had to turn heel. That's exactly what he did when he beat up Cena with the help of the Club to solidify his turn. In his first match against Cena at money in the bank, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows interfered, did their finisher on Cena and placed Styles on top of him. The referee, who had not witnessed anything, recovered and counted the pinfall victory for Styles. At the next ppv, it was a six man tag team match with The Club and Styles vs Cena, Enzo Amore, and Big cass which promptly defeated the club. But, it all came to a head at Summerslam. After months of tremendous buildup between Styles and Cena, it all came down to Summerslam at the Barclays Center. During the match, Cena performed an Attitude Adjustment from the top rope on Styles for a nearfall. A shocked Cena tried another Attitude Adjustment but Styles countered it into a Styles Clash. After a second Phenomenal Forearm, Styles pinned Cena to win the match.Coming off the momentum of beating the face of the company at Summerslam,the draft took place and he was put on Smackdown where a new world championship was created.On the August 23 episode of SmackDown, AJ Styles was declared the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Championship at Backlash. At the time, the Champion was Dean Ambrose and he feuded with him.In the main event at Backlash, Dean Ambrose defended the WWE World Championship against AJ Styles. Towards the end of the match, Styles did a Springboard 450 Splash on Ambrose for a near-fall. Ambrose threw Styles over the barricade and leapt onto him off a broadcast table. In the end, Styles countered Dirty Deeds by pushing Ambrose into the referee. Seizing the opportunity, Styles attacked Ambrose with a low blow, followed by a Styles Clash, to win the title. At that moment, he achieved the pinnacle of WWE, winning a world championship.From that point on, he continued to put on Five Star matches with all of his big opponents feuding with Dean Ambrose for the title all the way to the recent PPV, TLC when he beat Ambrose after James Ellsworth interfered, costing him the title. AJ Styles is the superstar of the year because month after month, match after match, he continued to put his all in the ring, entertaining the fans. He reached the pinnacle main eventing a large portion of the PPV’s, and even won the world championship. I vote for Aj Styles to be the superstar of the year.
