Why Goldberg Should Not Have Beaten Brock Lesnar
By Radi Lewis
Survivor Series 2016 last month was a good show from top to bottom. From the Team Smackdown Vs Raw team, the IC title match with Zayn and Miz, there was great wrestling during this PPV. But, that leads us to Goldberg Vs Brock Lesnar. This match was being built up as two monsters colliding, The Unstoppable force Brock Lesnar vs the WCW Legend Goldberg. Lesnar wanting revenge against Goldberg for that loss he suffered at Wrestlemania 20. Fanfare was at an all-time high coming into this match because people were curious to see how this would play out. We got our answer when Goldberg SQUASHED Lesnar in two minutes. Literally, it was two spears to Lesnar and a jackhammer to finish it off. Now, on one hand, the crowd in that building went crazy for that finish because it was so unexpected to see Lesnar dominated like that. And to their credit, It made Goldberg look like a beast heading into the Royal Rumble. However, with that said, Why on earth would you book Lesnar to not only lose to him but to get beat like a jobber? Brock Lesnar was undefeated ever since Wrestlemania 29, going through HHH, Cena, Reigns, Rollins, etc only to get squashed by a man who hasn't wrestled in almost 12 years. It may have been good for a nice surprise and a little burst of excitement coming from the fans, but what about long term? Their are young guys on that roster who could tremendously benefit from beating Lesnar, but instead, you have him beat all of those young wrestlers, and only have him lose to Old guys who are not sticking around for years to come. Somebody like a Sami Zayn being built up to slay the beast, Bray Wyatt, or even Kevin Owens taking that Mantle for slaying the beast. But, Of course, let's have Goldberg beat him in 2 minutes flat and it really shows the lack of credible wrestlers on that roster. So, while it was an exciting ending and did temporarily have a buzz, Long term, it hurt Lesnar and WWE.
